According to CBNnews one in five are seeking smaller cars, compared to one in 8 ten years ago. SUV sales are down a whopping 30 – 40% over a year ago while sales of the Ford Focus are up 32%, the Toyota Yaris up 46% and Honda Fit sales up an amazing 54% (all of which exceed 30 mpg). These are more traditional options, but cutting edge transportation options such as the Smart Car and the Vespa are flying off the lot. You’ve heard about the legendary waiting lists for a Toyota Prius, but you’ll wait 8 months for a Smart Car. Some dealers are saying that Vespa sales have doubled in the past year.
