The Smart Car company has been doing some touring throughout the US and offering free test drives. They were down in San Antonio last July doing test drives with about five cars. It seemed to be pretty popular since there was a line about a block long to take a drive.

Nice article Emily!

I rented one of these SMART cars when on vacation in Sardegna. It wasn't one of those super small guys, it actually had a back seat and behind that it had a space for groceries. My wife, friend and I cruised around in one of these for a whole week and still had gas in the tank (we even took a 4 hour road trip one day). I saw these everywhere in Italian cities! It seems as though all European cities would be a great place to own a SMART car because of their narrow streets and small spaces. I just don't see Americans or Canadians jumping into these little guys. Our cities are still big enough to cram SUV's into and until gas hits $6 I don't see a major move to these smaller cars taking place.
